The Love of a Movie
Posted on Thursday, 14 February 2008 by Negin Farsad
We here at Nerdcore Rising love Nerdcore Rising BUT… sometimes, when you’ve spent too much time with a movie – even a movie you love, you just want to punch it in the face. When I'm feeling like this, it's hard to remember all the good times we shared – the joyous tape-loading, the sexy graphics-building... the romantic candle-lit dinners. And today is Valentine's day! I should be showering the film with node-based specular roll-off adjustments and caressing render files in a pool of rose pedals.

The worst part is... I've even been thinking of... working on other movies. Okay, before you call in the judge and jury, it's not like I have slept with… er, I mean, "worked on" another movie... I just think about it sometimes.

But it's silly! Nerdcore Rising is the movie I love and now that we’re near the premiere-finish line (remember from the last blog that we’re premiering at SXSW!!) – I need to strengthen the loving bond betwixt filmmaker team and film.

So, here goes: Happy Valentines Day NerdcoreRisingTheMovie, we love you.

And to show you how much we love you, here’s a jpg of us trying to fix your sound:

And here’s one of us massaging your color-bars:

Your flowers will be arriving shortly.

For those of you who are not NerdcoreRisingTheMovie, we also wish you a happy day. But we don’t want to caress your render files in a pool of rose pedals – I don’t think any of us would be very comfortable with that.

Love,
Negin & All your Valentines at Nerdcore Rising

Aw... maybe you could get the movie some heart shaped "specular roll-offs" (whatever those are!)

02SxSW is too hollywood ...
SxSW??? Really? What could be LESS nerdcore than SxSW? It's so commercial now, it nothing more than a circle jerk for hollywood elitists and wannabees. I've been dying to see NR, but there's no way I'm paying the crazy SxSW film pass fee just to see NR. And it just figures that the first time Front comes to Austin ... there's no possible way I could go see him. Great.

I guess it had to happen sooner or later. Front's gone mainstream, and he's too cool now.

10DJFelix is WAY too whiney
I think when you make a film you are happy when any festivals pick it up, dispite whether it is "Nerdcore" or not, what film festival is considered MORE Nerdcore if SxSW is Less Nerdcore?

DJ Felix - I hear you. I do. BUT for the record, Front has performed in Austin before - and I'm sure he will again, SXSW or no SXSW. As for us, we want you and folks like you to see the movie. After the festival opens I think normal tix are available and if not, you let me know - I want Front-fans in the Austin area to get a chance to see the movie. For reals.

00Thanks
I want to see the move, I really do. And I would love nothing more than Front to be the biggest success beyond any of our imaginations. And yes .. I'm being whiney ... I liked SxSW AND Austin before it was overrun by Hollywood, and I have a right to be whiney

I'm a "valued sucker" now, and keep up with Front better than before. Next time we're in the same city together, I'll be first in-line.

If the movie is going to be playing elsewhere besides SxSW, I'll be there, and I'll bring my friends. You can count on it. Drafthouse maybe?
